HLiCA classifies cells into six lineages and 48 distinct cell types, 18 more than previous studies. Rigorous benchmarking ensured robust integration across technical and biological variables. Expanded annotations allowed identification of previously undetected liver cell types. As the largest human liver cell atlas, HLiCA serves as a genetically diverse, well-annotated reference.
